Abstract

Thispaper presents a circular patch planar ultra-wideband antenna for sub-6GHz 5G communication applications. The anticipated antenna is composedof a circular patch and aground planeand no lumped element or large system ground plane is required. To achieve the desire operating band, a rectangular slot has been inserted at the top edge of the ground plane. The measured results demonstrate that,the operating band of the studied antenna is rangingfrom 3.05 to 5.82 GHz withS11≤ -10dB, covering theentire N77/N78/N79 band for sub-6GHz 5G as well as LTE, WiMAX and WLAN wireless communicationsystem.The studied antenna has agood gain, efficiencyand demonstratesstable omnidirectionalradiation characteristics. Due to its distinctive characteristics such as planar profile, smallfootprint, symmetric radiation behaviourand goodgain, the studied antenna could be a promisingcompetitor to be used in 5G and existing wireless communication services..
