Abstract

The new 1,1ʹ-(Ethylene-1,2-diyl)dipyridinium tetranitratocuprate(II) was synthesized and characterized using different spectroscopic methods. The nonlinear optical properties have been investigated by z-scan technique. Theoretical fit to the experimental data was carried out to evaluate the nonlinear absorption coefficient (β), the nonlinear negative refractive index (n2), the ground-state absorption cross sections (σg), the excited-state absorption cross sections (σex) and thermo-optic coefficient. The obtained results suggest that our complex is considered to be good candidate for future optoelectronic devices..
