Abstract

The local structure of 2TeO2·xLi2O·(1-x)CuO glass system with 0 ≤ x ≤ 0.5 was investigate by means of FT-IR and Raman spectroscopies. Both techniques had provided interesting information about the structural units involved in these glasses structure. A network, mainly build by trigonal bypiramids (TeO4), trigonal pyramids (TeO3) and TeO3+1 polyhedra was propose for the investigated glasses. Moreover, the Li2O/CuO ratio influences on the structural units detected, was analyzed. It was found that the Li2O/CuO ratio increases implies the conversion of the TeO4 trigonal bypiramids and TeO3+1 polyhedra into TeO3 trigonal pyramids having two or three nonbridging oxygen (NBO) atoms..
